Nobody's Perfect
It isn't perfect. Not even close. But Microsoft's newly released Hohm program is a good first step toward--if nothing else--heightened consumer awareness of individual home energy use and conservation. Plus, it's kinda fun. Unless you have too many "cutting edge" items in your home like a geothermal ground source heat pump or PV panels or... In all fairness, since more than 100 million of the 130 million homes in the US were built before 1990 the Hohm program is most likely adequate for most users.
