Green Light, Red Light

By Anna Porter - Posted on 02 June 2010

Of course, we know that green building is the right thing to do and green buildings are in fact a better economic investment but unless we turn some sacred cows into hamburger we'll never get past the red light of appraising them.  We need a different approach to appraising just as we needed a different view of what buildings do and what we should really be expecting of them.

Maybe if we keep spreading the news...read the latest article citing David's now-famous seminar on green lending and appraising at the NAHB Green Building Conference:  www.nbnnews.com/NBN/issues/2010-05-31/Front%2BPage/index.html. Then help green homes get the traction they need.  Do what you can to inspire and educate lenders, appraisers, and politicians.  Otherwise, the whole grand dream of greening our buildings might get stuck at the intersection.
